Where The Hell Was I does not need to be open to work. The application runs in the background of your phone to track changes in your location. Just sign-up, log-in, then go about your day with your phone in your pocket, purse, or fanny pack.

Note: continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
